This is a copper statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. The statue is fully gold plated. The statue has been hand carved with detailed floral motifs. The gold face painting is done so beautifully that the face of Buddha is glowing.

Shakyamuni Buddha was born in Kapilvastu, Lumbini, Nepal some 2600 Years ago and performed many Buddha activities for 45 years in this sub-continent for the benefit of all the sentient beings. And this statue coming from his birthplace makes this statue a special one.

Shakyamuni statue

Comparing the statue in my possession to the photos on the website I am confident that I received the exact piece I asked for. However the lighting on the website is very good. In person it is clear the statue is not gold plated, but is probably a brass finish. Light stains and minor polishing scratches are present. Both are evident in the photo if you know where to look. Given these things, I think I paid too much for it. I took a chance, and it did not come off. I will probably not buy from this seller again. All that being said, it's a very lovely piece, beautifully sculpted and with refined facial expression and delicate posture. I am very happy to have it on the shrine and make offerings and so on.
