A Different Face and other Tales
A Different Face and other Tales by D.S. Kansakar Hilker
Nothing can be more annoying than trying to convince my fellow countrymen, that i am also a Nepali.
The Chitwan Park forest guard refuased to let in into the wild park without paying the ten US Dollar entrance fee required from tourists. My husband who doesn't understand a word of Nepali, fumed with impatience; he didn't understand what all the problem, the fuss and the delay was about. The guard was convinced I was Japanese and his argument was that there are many Japanese tourists who can also speak fluent Nepali. Like all Nepalis, I never carry a passport when travelling around my own country.
