Tibetan Om Mani Padme Hum Copper Bracelet
We are very thankful to JP Yue to write the blog about the Om Mani Bracelet. Sharing a blogpost from
As I have mentioned before I am a massive fan of indigenous trinkets. I am also a fan of alternative healing methods. So imagine my happy face when I found a trinket that married those two things I am a massive fan of (another plus is that it celebrates my Buddhist belief and faith).?!
I found a shop on Etsy (from Kathmandu, Nepal) that sells that exact thing (the Etsy shop being NepaCrafts and the thing being a Tibetan Om Mani Padme Hum Copper Bracelet).
NepaCrafts, is a social enterprise. They work with local artisans (in Nepal) and source the products straight from them, practicing fair trade and helping the artisans and creating better opportunities for them and their families.
Copper bracelets such as these have been used for many generations in Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan (and India). It is believed that they help maintain and balance body vibrations. They also help to alleviate pain from arthritis, rheumatism, tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome (among other things).
Om Mani Padme Hum (the mantra of Chenrezig) is an ancient Tibetan mantra for realising wisdom and perfect compassion. In Tibet (also in Nepal and Bhutan) it can be found almost everywhere; printed on prayer flags, on prayer wheels (and inside them), carved on to mala beads, and painted and/or carved on stones and mountain sides.
The bracelet is made in Nepal (with a lot of love), the mantra and the fern/leaf/fish designs on the ends of the bracelet are inscribed by hand; so no two pieces are ever a like.
