This card depicts devotees gathering around the chariot of Seto Machhindranath to worship the lord. Seto Machhindranath is also considered as a form of Avalokitesvara in Buddhism and the incarnation of Lord Shiva, who can bring rain in Hinduism.
The deity is known by people as Jammado or Machhendra. The temple of Seto Machhindranath is situated at Janabahal in Kel Tole in the middle of old bazar in Kathmandu. It is one of the most important and ornate temples in Kathmandu. The image of Machhendranath is taken out of the temple during the festival in March-April every year and is paraded around the city in this chariot for four days. After the festival the chariot is dismantled and the image is placed back in the temple.
